Dr. Olvera is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has received multiple awards for his work with student athletes at all levels. He enjoys working with amateur athletes as well as the elite athlete.
In addition to his family practice, Dr. Olvera has worked as an assistant Orthopedic Surgeon for more than 20 years, giving him a unique understanding and perspective of the musculoskeletal system. He is focused in the area of clinical primary care sports medicine, ambulatory orthopedics and rehabilitation. Dr. Olvera also understands the frustrations and intricacies of the medical system. Many of his patients find him easy to speak to. He can translate complex medical jargon into basic layman language. He attributes this asset to growing up in East L.A. Calif., serving as a medical corpsman in the USAF prior to medical school, and living throughout the United States and Europe for 13 years.
In his free time he enjoys going to all types of sporting events, traveling, exercising and spending free time with his family and friends.
